Description

A delicious steak and mushroom cheese sub that combines savory flavors in a perfect sandwich.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound sirloin or ribeye steak, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cup bell peppers, diced
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 sub rolls
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Steak:
    – Season the thinly sliced steak with salt and pepper.
  2. Sauté the Vegetables:
    – Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
    – Add the onions and garlic, sauté until the onions are translucent.
    – Add the mushrooms and bell peppers, cook until softened. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  3. Cook the Steak:
    – In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of olive oil.
    – Add the steak slices, cook until browned and cooked to your liking. Return the vegetables to the skillet and mix well.
  4. Assemble the Subs:
    – Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
    – Slice the sub rolls lengthwise and place on a baking sheet.
    – Evenly distribute the steak and vegetable mixture onto each roll.
    – Top each sub with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  5. Bake the Subs:
    – Place the subs in the oven and bake for about 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Serve:
    – Remove from the oven and serve hot.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, consider adding a dash of Worcestershire sauce to the steak while cooking.
  • Swap mozzarella with provolone or cheddar for a different flavor profile.
  • If you prefer a spicier kick, add sliced jalapeños or crushed red pepper flakes.
  • Toasting the sub rolls lightly before assembling can add a nice crunch.
