Description

A delightful layered dessert with creamy orange and fresh mandarin flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cans (11 ounces each) mandarin oranges, drained
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 package (3.4 ounces) instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1 1/2 cups cold milk
  • Zest of 1 orange

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Crust: In a medium bowl, mix the graham cracker crumbs and melted butter until well combined. Press the mixture evenly into the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish to form the crust. Chill in the refrigerator for 20 minutes.
  2. Whip the Cream: In a large mixing bowl, beat the heavy whipping cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form. Set aside.
  3. Prepare the Pudding: In a separate bowl, whisk together the instant vanilla pudding mix and cold milk until thickened. Fold in half of the whipped cream gently.
  4. Assemble the Dessert: Spread a layer of pudding mixture over the chilled crust. Arrange a layer of mandarin oranges on top of the pudding. Spread half of the remaining whipped cream over the oranges. Repeat with another layer of pudding, oranges, and finish with the remaining whipped cream. Garnish with orange zest.
  5. Chill: Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving to allow the layers to set.

Notes

  • Ensure the mandarin oranges are well-drained to prevent the dessert from becoming soggy.
  • For added flavor, you can sprinkle a bit of orange liqueur over the oranges.
  • If you prefer a firmer texture, chill the dessert overnight.
  • Substitute graham cracker crumbs with digestive biscuits for a variation in the crust.
