Description

This creamy shrimp stuffed bread is a delightful dish perfect for any occasion. Baked to perfection, it combines the tenderness of shrimp with rich cream and gooey cheese, all served in a hollowed loaf of bread.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large loaf of bread (sourdough or French bread)
  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: a pinch of red pepper flakes for heat

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Bread: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Cut the top of the bread loaf and hollow out the center, leaving about an inch of the crust.
  2. Cook the Shrimp: In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the shrimp, seasoning with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Cook until the shrimp are pink and opaque, about 3-4 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. Make the Creamy Filling: In the same skillet, add butter and minced garlic, sautéing until fragrant. Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a simmer. Stir in Parmesan cheese, allowing it to melt and thicken the sauce. Add the cooked shrimp to the sauce, mixing well to coat them evenly.
  4. Assemble the Bread: Fill the hollowed bread with the creamy shrimp mixture. Top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  5. Bake the Bread: Place the filled bread on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Remove from oven and let it cool slightly.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle chopped parsley over the top. Slice and serve warm.

Notes

  • Ensure the shrimp are fully cooked but not overcooked to keep them tender.
  • You can add spinach or mushrooms to the filling for added flavor and nutrients.
  • For a crispy topping, broil the bread for the last 2 minutes of baking.
  • This dish pairs well with a fresh green salad or roasted vegetables.
