Description

A delicious grilled cheese sandwich made with sourdough bread and two types of cheese, perfect for a quick meal.


Ingredients

  • 2 slices sourdough or artisan bread
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded or thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded or thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh basil or parsley, chopped (optional)
  • 2 slices tomato or roasted red pepper (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper

Instructions

  1. Spread softened butter on one side of each bread slice.
  2. Flip the slices over and layer cheddar and mozzarella on the non-buttered side.
  3. Add tomato slices, roasted pepper, or herbs between the cheese layers if desired.
  4. Close the sandwich with buttered sides facing out.
  5. Heat a skillet over medium-low and place the sandwich in the pan.
  6. Grill for 3–4 minutes per side until golden and crispy.
  7. Let the sandwich rest for a minute before slicing.
  8. Garnish with herbs and a dash of pepper if desired.
  9. Serve hot and enjoy immediately.
