Description

Deliciously cheesy beef sandwiches perfect for lunch or dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (85/15 or 90/10)
  • 2 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 4 slices provolone cheese
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 brioche buns

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add sliced onions and a pinch of salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 20–25 minutes until deeply caramelized.
  2. Push onions to the side and add the ground beef. Break it apart and cook until browned and no longer pink.
  3. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Sprinkle flour over the mixture and stir to coat the beef and onions evenly.
  5. Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Stir well and let the mixture simmer for 5–7 minutes until thickened.
  6. Lay provolone slices on top. Cover the skillet and let cheese melt for 2–3 minutes. Stir gently if desired.
  7. Toast brioche buns in a dry skillet or oven until golden.
  8. Spoon the cheesy beef mixture onto the bottom bun and top with the other half. Serve hot.

Notes

  • Adjust the seasoning according to your taste preferences.
  • For a spicier version, consider adding some red pepper flakes.
  • These sandwiches can be served with a side of fries or a salad.
