Description

Deliciously rich and fluffy red velvet pancakes, perfect for a special breakfast or brunch.


Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/4 cups buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon distilled white vinegar

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, egg, melted butter, red food coloring, vanilla extract, and vinegar.
  3. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir just until combined. Do not overmix.
  4. Heat a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat and lightly grease it.
  5. Pour 1/4 cup of batter onto the skillet for each pancake.
  6. Cook for 2–3 minutes on the first side until bubbles form and the edges are set. Flip and cook another 2–3 minutes.
  7. Repeat with remaining batter.
  8. Serve warm with cream cheese glaze, syrup, or toppings of choice.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, add a pinch of cinnamon to the dry ingredients.
  • These pancakes are best served immediately for optimal fluffiness.
