Description

Delicious and festive eggnog cookies perfect for the holiday season.


Ingredients

  • ¾ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • ½ cup eggnog
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 to 3 tbsp eggnog
  • pinch ground nutmeg (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, beat butter, sugar, and brown sugar together until light and fluffy.
  3. Mix in the egg yolks, eggnog, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, nutmeg, cinnamon, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
  6. Scoop about 1 ½ tablespoons of dough per cookie and place on the prepared baking sheets, leaving 2 inches between cookies.
  7. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the centers are set.
  8. Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  9. To make the glaze, in a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar and eggnog until smooth and pourable.
  10. Drizzle the glaze over cooled cookies. Sprinkle lightly with nutmeg for garnish. Allow glaze to set before serving.

  • For extra flavor, consider adding more ground nutmeg or cinnamon.
