Description

This herb butter is perfect for steaks, veggies, potatoes, or bread.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon chili flakes
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon chopped chives or other herbs (optional)

Instructions

  1. Let the butter come to room temperature until softened but not melted.
  2. Mince the garlic finely and chop the fresh parsley (and optional herbs).
  3. Zest the lemon, avoiding the white pith.
  4. Combine the softened butter, garlic, parsley, chili flakes, lemon zest, Dijon mustard, salt, and black pepper in a medium bowl.
  5. Mix thoroughly with a spatula or fork until well combined and smooth.
  6. Transfer the mixture to parchment or plastic wrap and shape into a log.
  7. Wrap tightly and chill in the fridge for at least 1 hour or freeze for longer storage.
  8. Slice as needed to use on steaks, veggies, potatoes, or bread.
  9. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks or freezer for up to 3 months.
  10. Let come to room temperature before spreading or serve cold on hot food.
